Window Shopping Again

Painting by Paul Rafferty, @ Grenning gallery.com

This past week, I had the best time with my Mom. We had planned to go to the craft store and look around there, but we decided that Lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant and browsing in the bookstore was just what we wanted to do.
It is rare that I/we get in a book store with time to just look at anything that catches our eye. Usually somebody is ready to leave, or we have limited time. This week though was different. We weren't rushed at all. Mom and I looked through books and magazines to our hearts content. I bought a book that my hubby had been wanting to read and looked for a couple of things for my son, but I really didn't buy anything else.
The sad part is that even though I had a wonderful time with my Mom, I sure wish my Sister could have been here too. She lives on the other side of the country and I miss her terribly. She and I however have our own way of shopping via the internet. Sometimes we call each other and shop on the net together. It can be great fun. Thank God for unlimited long distance. Whoever de-regulated the telephone industry is a genius.
Anyway this past week, I wanted to shop and so I made an etsy treasury. It is the first one I have done and it was really fun to put together.
I love flowers and children so I couldn't resist putting this together. I call it flower child.
If you get a chance, check it out. There are some really pretty things in it made by some incredibly talented people.
Happy Window Shopping.

What's your Favorite?

Is there one special recipe you remember from your childhood? One that maybe you grew up enjoying and learned to cook for yourself later? I have way more than 1. I was so blessed, My Mom and Grandma and older Sister are all great cooks and I have learned from them.
Tonight, we were looking for something to munch on and this came to mind. My Mom has made these for us for as long as I can remember and sometimes still does. I make them and my sister makes them too.
We always just called them "Boiled Cookies". Those of you who eat solely with your eyes, feel free to look away now. They "ain't" pretty!

But they are so so good. Sometimes Mom would make them for breakfast. Mom said she knew if she made those we would eat something ( never mind the sugar rush). Many days we would slip out without eating so if Mom made these cookies, we all ate.
Shortly after I was married, I told my husband I was going to make "boiled Cookies" and he never said no but he did everything humanly possible to keep me from making them. Finally I made them before he got home from work and he loved them too. LOL, He had no idea they were really chocolate oatmeal cookies.
Anyway, we made some tonight and I just had to tell you about them. If you were here, I would share, but since you aren't, Would you like the recipe? If you will leave me a comment, I will send you my recipe, but I want to know what your favorite childhood food dish was.

Enjoy
