Monday's Motivation.... nowhere to be found

Happy New Year Everyone!, I know I am late, it is just that I took off all the days the schools were closed and now I don't want to go back to normal.
Am I the only one fighting it? My Routine really needs to be re-instated, but I just don't seem to have the motivation................

Hopefully my motivation will return in a little while. There is work to be done, jewelry to be designed, seeds to be sown, and garden plans to be drawn.

Hope you aren't facing the loss of monday's motivation too.

Are you a Planner, or a Doer?

I couldn't resist this title. It stems from a question I asked myself after a long fun conversation with my sister. She suggested that I get a sketch book and some colored pens and design my jewelry ( and doodles and etc) and keep the designs in a book. My problem is that I don't really plan out ahead of time what I am going to create. For years I designed (home) landscapes and flower beds (on golf courses Like this one at LCC)

and even then I never drew out designs or plans. I always kind of joked that I liked to design on the "fly". (I once even designed her flower boxes ( disclosure-this flower box isn't hers, but I couldn't find my pictures of her boxes)

while she worked all the while never putting pen to paper) . I like to see what I have available and use that to create whatever I am working on. I never know when I sit down to make something, what I am going to actually do. It seems like even when I have a picture or pattern in mind, what I make never looks like what I thought I was going to make.  So I guess my question is:

Do you plan out what you are going to do, or do you let the wire and beads, or paint and brushes, or even flowers and shrubs decide what the end product will be?

If like me, you don't plan anything, do you find it frustrating trying to follow a pattern?
I appreciate all of your answers to last week's question about preferences, and I hope you don't mind more questions... ( I promise this is not a quiz). I just really want to know are there others like me who don't plan, or should I start trying to be a little more methodical.

It is Friday again  and it seems like the weeks just go faster and faster. For the first time in my life I am really able to relate to " Stop the world... It's spinning too fast".  In my blog travels this week, I have really enjoyed these little hats from Girl in Air. I can just  see a bunch of little children wearing these hats and having tons of fun. I had thought I would make one for 1 of my nephews, but I was just told that he doesn't like hats and they even had to bribe him to wear his halloween costume. Girl in air, I am your fan!
I love this tip about growing onions indoors too. My sister told me about starting them in a dish of water, but mine just rotted. I like this idea. ( maybe it is just getting to keep a little pot full of dirt in the house all winter. LOL) My Byrd house, I am your fan too
This post about growing an indoor herb garden is right up my alley too. I really need more light in my kitchen, but I am sure if I try I can find a stray clamp light. This post talks about basil, thyme and sage, but I would have to add oregano to my list too. If you have a sunny ( or bright) spot in your home check this post at re-nest.

Rough Week?

If these don't bring you a giggle, or at least a smile, then you have had a really rough week and you have my permission to take Monday off.

Bungee Jumping OOPS!

No, not me silly,( I have and will hang glide in a heartbeat but i'm not jumping off of anything!) but my laptop. I guess it was a little bored just hanging out on it's shelf, so it decided to take a plunge. The problem was the cord was just a wee bit too long....... and it couldn't snap back up to the safety of the shelf...so..... Yes, it crashed. I spent 3 hours on the phone with a really nice computer tech person in India and finally got it running again. I am very thankful for warranty service.
Now that we ( the laptop and I) are back to normal, I can send a big THANK YOU to Campbell Jane. She featured my black and white daisy earrings on her blog. Woo Hoo! I haven't been featured before. Check out her blog when you get a chance. Everything there is black and white. It is so cool.
She has a picture posted there in black and white of some gorgeous African Daisy blossoms, that is pretty it will make your eyes hurt to look at it.

On the gardening front, I have had some seedlings emerge in my little baggies of plumeria and daylilies. I love growing anything from seed. I will have to set a clock and work early in the mornings to get them transplanted. This evening it was still
92 F at 8pm. I sure can't take The heat like I used to.
In the studio, I finally found the pictures I had taken of my most recent pieces. They were taken with my phone so I didn't have them downloaded.

I think I will use my real camera tomorrow and take some more photos.
This is my first attempt at chain maille. I was instantly addicted. I just need more jumprings and a lesson in aspect ratio.


I also used some sea shells I picked up from the beach to just make some fun things.
I would like to use more shells in my work, I just need to stop procrastinating and go work up these ideas I keep seeing in my mind.
Next project.... Transplant those seedlings and fill the aeropropagator.

Welcome to my world

Welcome to my world. I live in Pawley's Island, SC a tiny little barrier island known as the oldest seaside resort in America. I'll try to keep it full of fun things. I am usually always in the garden which has been a work in progress for about 18 years. One of these days I will quit re-designing the whole thing and actually let it grow. I love to grow anything I can find and I am always experimenting with different propagation methods, ways to germinate seeds and feed plants. If there is a new plant, I've gotta have one and if I can grow it from seed, that is just icing on the cake. I have recently accepted thatPlants are like POKEMON! Ya gotta have them all! ( and I am getting close) .
If I am not in the garden, my aviary is my other "happy place" I raise Quaker parrots, Cockatiels and Budgies. There are about 50 or so birds in the aviary and most of them talk and all of them provide lots of entertainment.
I love to make jewelry with wire and beads. My husband makes copper sculpted flowers which we will be selling in my etsy shop. I also love to travel and photograph everything, especially flowers and landscapes. You never know what you might find here, so stop by often and be sure to say Hi.
